Earlier this week we held a Black History Month Seminar at Terry Duffy House. The event was organised by Councillor Jackie Taylor, who said:
"The evening was very interactive and we discussed various issues of concern such as the Government's persistence in trying to disempower our Trade Union movement and the changes to constituency boundaries but the main focus was on Individual Electoral Registration and that over a million voters are likely to drop off the electoral register."
"I urged the participants to get talking politics, to engage and empower young people to register and vote as well as others who they know are not registered."
Thank you to everybody who attended and a special welcome to the Sri Lankan and Somalian communities who attended such an event for the first time.
