Safer 6

Over the past weeks, Sandwell's Autumn Safer 6 campaign has been underway across the six towns in Sandwell.

Safer 6 is all about targeting their efforts and providing extra reassurance during the darker nights, fireworks and bonfire season – a time when crime and anti-social behaviour can rise.

Councillors Pat Davies, Liz Giles, Laura Hickey and Steve Melia were on hand at the West Bromwich launch along with representatives from West Midlands Police, West Midlands Fire Service, Sandwell Trading Standards, Health, Adults and Children's Services, Neighbourhoods Teams, Sandwell Libraries and Crime Prevention.

In addition to the launch event, lots of activities took place that week across West Bromwich, including speed checks, litter picking and junior PCSO training.

Councillor Laura Hickey said "The launch was a great success. Everyone particularly seemed to like the chip pan fire demonstrations and meeting the Trading Standards dogs. Crime Prevention were also handing out purse bells which went down particularly well."
